Altobridge wireless network solutions reduce network operating costs in the delivery of 2G and 3G mobile voice and mobile broadband services to unconnected remote communities and enterprises.

Central to this lie a series of patented and patent-pending technologies namely; Altobridge Data-at-the-Edge™ (broadband data optimization in wireless networks), Local Connectivity™ (local voice switching) and Split Architecture™ (transmission and power optimization), all of which, individually and combined, drive down communications delivery costs for mobile network operators by reducing backhaul and power consumption costs.

The solar powered Altobridge lite-site™ enables mobile network operators to bring mobile connectivity to remote communities at low cost.

Meeting the needs of up to 1200 subscribers with traffic capacity of 18 Erlang per altoPod™ (no limit with clustering), the Altobridge lite-site™ has been specifically designed to optimise satellite bandwidth and minimise power consumption.

Combining 2G/3G and VSAT technologies, the Altobridge lite-site™:

  • Is the lowest power consumption mobile communications system for remote communities

“Making Data Beautiful” is not the type of tagline you expect to see at a telecommunications trade show … but you will on Comptel’s stand!

As communication services become more ubiquitous and commoditised, it becomes harder to wow customers with technology and differentiate services. Even the most innovative services are increasingly short lived and forgotten in a sea of competitive ‘me-too’ offerings and ‘next big things’.

But one thing customers always remember is how they were made to feel … and that is why Comptel’s tagline combines the rational (data) with the emotional (beautiful).

Comptel’s software collects and processes staggering amounts of data worldwide and turns that data into information, information into intelligence, and intelligence into actions. Not just any action, but actions based on the unique context in which the subscriber finds themselves.

And this helps bring people closer to their interests and their loved ones which makes them feel good about themselves and your service.

Comptel’s Contextual Intelligence for Telecommunications (CIQ4T) takes customer experience management to the next level, helping you to engage with your customers better, reducing churn and creating new revenue and upsell opportunities.

If you would like your customers to feel good about your services, then why not come and talk to Comptel at stand C05 about making your data “beautiful”.

Today, several factors, like the data capacity crunch, are affecting network transformation and have caused communications service providers (CSPs) to invest tremendous resources in technologies like Carrier Ethernet to update their silo-oriented legacy network infrastructure. However, CSPs also need to redefine their OSS, engineering and customer care strategies to successfully deliver differentiated services, while cost-effectively monetizing, operating and optimizing their networks.

Sami Landoulsi, head of transmission and IP at Tunisiana, will explain how his CSP organization tackled this at AfricaCom. In a presentation titled, “Deploying a State-of-the-art Next-Generation IP Transport Network in Preparation for 3G Launch”, Mr. Landoulsi will discuss Tunisiana’s implementation of InfoVista’s network performance management solution to help right-size a new backhaul network and monitor ongoing network availability and performance.

Mr. Landoulsi will also explain how InfoVista’s capabilities have helped Tunisiana align its service performance with OPEX and CAPEX management objectives, and transform and consolidate its OSS/BSS ecosystems. He will also explore how network performance management solutions, like InfoVista’s, provide the actionable visibility mobile operators require to effectively control  the planning, deployment and operational phases of next-generation IP transport networks.

Interested in learning how to successfully deploy a next-generation IP network or easily monitor and manage network performance? Please visit InfoVista’s experts at booth #C03 during AfricaCom!

In June, Intelsat announced the Intelsat EpicNG platform, a new series of satellites based upon a high performance, open architecture design. Intelsat EpicNG will provide greater efficiency and increased throughput–two to five times that of a traditional satellite–enabling cellular backhaul solutions with stronger geographic penetration and significantly improved economics. Intelsat EpicNG is backward compatible and complements Intelsat’s existing satellite fleet and the IntelsatOneSM network, meaning customers can achieve higher throughput with their existing hardware.

Intelsat EpicNG combines Intelsat’s premiere spectral rights in C-, Ku- and Ka-band frequencies with wide beams, spot beams and frequency reuse technologies.  The increased efficiency results in a dramatic increase in the types of networks and applications that can be supported by satellite-based infrastructure.

For wireless and other service providers, the open architecture design allows the delivery of differentiated services, with flexible network topologies, service characteristics and speeds. Improved economics lower the revenue-per-site barriers, resulting in a cost-effective alternative to building microwave infrastructure in many regions, with the benefit of greater reliability. Intelsat EpicNG supports thin routes with low ARPU users, and smaller terminals that allow for low-power solar options.

By combining wide beams and spot beams, Intelsat EpicNG can extend the reach of mobile networks across vast rural areas, while concentrating high throughput bandwidth over highly populated areas. The system is designed to support 3G/4G mobile backhaul requirements, and it utilizes dynamic bandwidth allocation for asymmetrical multimedia requirements while allowing load sharing of links during times of high traffic or network congestion.

At this year’s AfricaCom, Inmarsat will be showcasing its latest portfolio of satellite services for voice and data communications in Africa.  Come and see how we are delivering reliable voice, real-time broadband and M2M (machine-to-machine) connectivity for a wide range of enterprise sectors including: banking and finance, media, aid, transportation, environmental monitoring, oil and gas, mining, construction and government.

Inmarsat’s solutions and ubiquitous services complement Africa’s existing terrestrial and submarine cable networks, delivering satellite-based broadband and voice communications to areas where broadband penetration is lacking and to sites where organisations need complete confidence in the reliability of their communications – however  harsh the environment!

As the market leader in L-band services in Africa, we will be demonstrating our product roadmap including the new Alphasat I-XL satellite which will enhance L-band service capabilities across Africa, providing even faster streaming performance.

These enhancements are a precursor to the capabilities enabled by future Ka-band services that will be introduced by Inmarsat’s game-changing network. Global Xpress will deliver the world’s first truly global Ka-band network for fixed and mobile communications services, providing high-speed, reliable data solutions for applications such as: enterprise IP, VPNs, rural cellular backhaul and broadband-based satellite newsgathering. Its deployment starts in 2013, with full, global service available by end 2014.

The show will also highlight our broadband, M2M and voice portfolio, as well as our value added solutions.

Operational in Africa for over 30 years, Inmarsat continues to provide outstanding local service and support backed by competitive pricing and unrivalled coverage.
